Traditionally viewed as a deity in many ancient civilizations, the sun has been a focal point of reverence and ritual. However, in the modern context, the approach to sun worship has evolved, taking on a more nuanced and varied form. This article delves into the contemporary practice of sun worship, not as a deity, but as a central element in a spiritual and philosophical journey towards enlightenment and clarity.

“Look at a tree, how calm, lovely and beautiful she is. She is always meditating for the love of the sun.”

― Debasish Mridha

The modern-day sun worshipper often navigates a path that is agnostic regarding the sun's divinity. Instead, the focus is on the sun as a symbol or catalyst for deeper spiritual and meditative practices. In this light, we draw inspiration from various spiritual seekers. We delve into various sutras and texts, seeking those that shed light on the sun's role in spiritual practice without veering into the overly metaphorical or symbolic. Our aim is to find practical, clear insights that resonate with our contemporary quest for spiritual clarity.

This exploration is not about the adoration of the sun as a God, unless you want to, but rather, it's about understanding and utilizing the sun's presence and significance in our daily lives. It's about how the sunlight touching our skin can be more than just a physical sensation; it can be a connection to a higher state of consciousness, a moment of clarity in a world often clouded by the mundane.

As we embark on this journey through the landscape of modern-day sun worship, we invite readers to open their minds to the possibilities that lie in the simple act of turning one's face to the sun, seeking not just warmth and light, but also wisdom and enlightenment.

The History of Sun Worship

Art by FutureRender

Sun worship, the reverential acknowledgment of the sun's power and significance, is a practice that transcends time and geography, deeply rooted in the annals of human history. This section explores the journey of sun worship from its ancient origins to its modern interpretations, shedding light on how this venerable practice has evolved and influenced contemporary spiritual beliefs.

“Even great men bow before the Sun; it melts hubris into humility.”

― Dejan Stojanovic

The reverence for the sun as a powerful celestial entity dates back to some of the earliest civilizations. In Ancient Egypt, the sun god Ra was central to the pantheon, symbolizing creation, life, and power. Similarly, in Mesopotamian mythology, the sun god Shamash was revered for justice and morality. The Greeks and Romans, with gods like Helios and Sol, respectively, also exemplified the importance of the sun in myth and daily life.

In the Americas, the Aztecs worshipped Huitzilopochtli, a sun and war deity, illustrating the sun's association with power and vitality. The Inca civilization, with Inti as their sun god, not only revered the sun but also considered their emperors as its direct descendants, intertwining governance with divine solar worship.

In Eastern traditions, the sun held a different yet equally significant role. Hinduism has Surya, the sun god, representing health and vitality, often depicted riding a chariot across the sky. In Japan, Amaterasu, the sun goddess, is a central figure in Shinto religion and considered the ancestor of the Imperial family.

As civilizations evolved, so did the nature of sun worship. With the spread of monotheistic religions and the rise of scientific understanding, the literal worship of the sun as a deity diminished. However, its symbolic significance remained potent. The sun began to be seen more as a metaphor for enlightenment, truth, and the inexorable passage of time.

In the Renaissance period, for instance, the sun was a popular symbol in art and literature, often representing divine knowledge or the eye of God, watching over the universe. The Enlightenment era further shifted the focus, using the sun as a symbol of reason and intellectual illumination.

“Laughter is a sunbeam of the soul.”

― Thomas Mann

Today, sun worship takes on a more personal and introspective form. While the deification of the sun is rare, its use as a symbol and tool for meditation and spiritual practice is prevalent. The sun is often seen as a representation of inner light, guiding one towards self-awareness and clarity. Modern sun worshippers may not see the sun as a deity but as an essential element in their spiritual and meditative practices, drawing from various historical and cultural interpretations of sun worship.

This historical journey demonstrates that while the forms and understanding of sun worship have transformed over millennia, its core essence – as a source of life, inspiration, and spiritual quest – remains a constant, bridging the past with the present in a continuous thread of reverence and wonder.

Simple Trees and Bushes - Considerations for Planting

When it comes to enhancing our living spaces with greenery, choosing simple trees and bushes can be both rewarding and environmentally responsible. However, it's crucial to consider certain factors before planting. Firstly, always check local regulations or seek permissions if necessary, especially in urban areas or community spaces. Another important aspect is understanding the potential invasiveness of a species. Some plants, while beautiful, can become invasive in certain climates, outcompeting native flora and disrupting local ecosystems. Therefore, it's essential to select species that are suitable for your area's climate and soil conditions, and avoid planting in regions where they might become invasive. This approach ensures that your gardening not only adds beauty to your surroundings but also contributes positively to the ecological balance.

Do you feel like you're constantly putting out fires and never able to focus on the things that truly matter?

If so, you're not alone. Many people struggle with productivity and time management, but there is a simple principle that can help you achieve 10x productivity in your personal and professional life: the Pareto Principle, also known as the 80/20 rule.

The Pareto Principle was named after Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who observed that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the population. He later noticed that this principle applied to many other aspects of life, including productivity. In essence, the Pareto Principle states that 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts.

Here's how you can leverage this principle to achieve 10x productivity:

1. Identify your most important tasks

The first step is to identify the 20% of your tasks that are most important. These are the tasks that will have the biggest impact on your personal and professional life. They are the tasks that will move you closer to your goals and help you achieve the results you're looking for.

2. Eliminate or delegate non-essential tasks

Once you've identified your most important tasks, it's time to eliminate or delegate the non-essential tasks. These are the tasks that don't contribute much to your overall productivity or that can be done by someone else. By eliminating or delegating these tasks, you'll free up more time and energy to focus on your most important tasks.

3. Focus on high-value activities

Now that you've eliminated or delegated the non-essential tasks, it's time to focus on high-value activities. These are the tasks that will give you the biggest return on your investment of time and energy. They are the tasks that will help you achieve your goals and move you closer to success.

4. Use time-blocking to stay focused

One of the best ways to stay focused on your high-value activities is to use time-blocking. This involves setting aside specific blocks of time for each task on your to-do list. By doing this, you'll be less likely to get distracted or procrastinate, and you'll be more productive overall.

5. Review and adjust regularly

Finally, it's important to regularly review and adjust your productivity plan. This will help you stay on track and make sure you're focusing on the right tasks. It will also allow you to make changes as needed and adjust your plan to reflect your changing priorities.

In conclusion, the Pareto Principle is a powerful tool for achieving 10x productivity in your personal and professional life. By focusing on your most important tasks, eliminating non-essential tasks, and using time-blocking to stay focused, you'll be able to achieve more in less time. So why not give it a try? Your productivity (and your sanity) will thank you!
Nicko Gibsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02134121942270099848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7013971139063267315.post-24599898458722448512023-04-01T19:12:00.000-07:002023-04-01T19:12:18.290-07:00Improving Gut Health with Probiotic PillsProbiotics are beneficial microorganisms that can be found in various foods and supplements, such as yogurt, kefir, and probiotic pills. They have gained popularity in recent years due to their potential health benefits, particularly in supporting digestive and immune health. In this article, we will explore the benefits of probiotic pills and provide examples of popular probiotic supplements that can help improve overall health.

The Importance of Gut Health
Gut health is crucial to overall health and well-being. The gut, also known as the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, is home to trillions of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. These microorganisms play a vital role in maintaining a healthy gut environment, aiding digestion, and supporting immune function.

When the balance of these microorganisms is disrupted, it can lead to various health issues, such as digestive problems, inflammation, and a weakened immune system. This disruption can be caused by factors such as poor diet, stress, medications, and illness.

How Probiotics Can Help
Probiotics are live microorganisms that can help restore the balance of beneficial bacteria in the gut. They can help reduce inflammation, improve digestion, and enhance immune function. Probiotic pills, in particular, can be a convenient and effective way to ensure that you are getting enough of these beneficial microorganisms.

There are many different strains of probiotics, and each has its own unique health benefits. Some of the most common strains found in probiotic pills include Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis, and Streptococcus thermophilus. These strains have been shown to help support digestive health, boost immune function, and reduce inflammation.

Examples of Probiotic Pills
There are many different probiotic pills available on the market, each with its own unique formulation and CFU count. However, the question of whether or not milk is truly necessary for a healthy diet is a contentious one.

Cow's milk is a rich source of calcium, protein, and other essential nutrients. However, it is also high in saturated fat and cholesterol, which can contribute to heart disease and other health problems. Additionally, cow's milk contains lactose, a sugar that many people are unable to digest properly, leading to symptoms such as bloating, gas, and diarrhea.

Breastmilk, on the other hand, is the ideal source of nutrition for infants. It is perfectly tailored to meet the needs of a growing baby and contains antibodies and other immune-boosting compounds that help protect against infection.

There are also alternatives to cow's milk, such as soy milk, almond milk, and oat milk, that can be used as a milk substitute. These alternatives are often lower in fat and calories than cow's milk and can be a good option for those who are lactose intolerant or looking to reduce their saturated fat intake.

In conclusion, while milk is a rich source of nutrients, it is not necessary for a healthy diet. Many people can get the same nutrients from other sources, and there are also alternatives to cow's milk that can be used as a milk substitute. As always, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional about your own specific dietary needs.

- article written with assistance from OpenAI ChatGPT
Nicko Gibsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02134121942270099848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7013971139063267315.post-55252825768416910492023-01-19T15:31:00.000-08:002023-01-19T15:31:17.244-08:00Choosing the Right Programming Language: A Guide

When it comes to learning a programming language, it can be difficult to decide which one to start with. One of the main reasons is that sugar can be addictive, and many people find it difficult to control their intake. Consuming too much sugar can lead to a range of health problems, including obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

Artificial sweeteners are a low-calorie or zero-calorie alternative to sugar that can help you reduce your intake of added sugars. They are much sweeter than sugar, so you can use less of them to achieve the same level of sweetness. Some common artificial sweeteners include aspartame, sucralose, and stevia.

It's important to note that artificial sweeteners are not completely risk-free. Some studies have suggested that they may be associated with certain health issues, such as an increased risk of cancer or changes in gut bacteria. However, the evidence for these potential risks is not yet strong, and more research is needed to understand their effects on health.

Overall, if you're looking to reduce your intake of added sugars, artificial sweeteners can be a useful option. Just be sure to use them in moderation, as they are still a form of added sweetener. You may also want to consider using natural alternatives to sweeteners, such as honey or maple syrup, which have some nutritional value and may be less processed than artificial sweeteners.

Article written with help from OpenAI's ChatGPT
Nicko Gibsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02134121942270099848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7013971139063267315.post-20233888568517479762022-12-23T08:35:00.002-08:002023-01-06T02:52:41.301-08:00What's the Difference Between Dialect and Accent?A dialect is a form of a language that is spoken in a particular geographic region or by a specific group of people. Dialects can differ from each other in terms of vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. Dialects can also be influenced by other languages and cultural influences.

An accent is the way that a language is spoken by a particular person or group of people. It refers specifically to the pronunciation and vocal characteristics of a language, rather than its grammar or vocabulary. Accents can vary within the same dialect and can be influenced by a person's native language or the region where they grew up.

For example, British English has many different dialects, such as Cockney, Scouse, and Geordie, which differ in terms of vocabulary and grammar. However, all of these dialects are spoken with a variety of accents, depending on the speaker's individual background and upbringing. Similarly, within the United States, there are many different regional dialects of English, such as Southern, Midwestern, and Northeastern, but all of these dialects can be spoken with a variety of accents.

Article written with help from OpenAI's ChatGPT
Nicko Gibsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02134121942270099848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7013971139063267315.post-79575693737205270082022-12-22T12:37:00.003-08:002023-01-16T10:21:38.586-08:00Can I rename my Windows Audio Device? Can you rename your Windows audio device to switch devices easier?

Yes, you can rename your audio devices in Windows 10 and 11.
Vitamins are an important part of a healthy diet. They are essential nutrients that the body needs in small amounts to function properly. Vitamins help the body to grow, develop, and function properly. They play a crucial role in maintaining healthy cells, tissues, and organs, and in supporting the body's immune system. A balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other healthy foods is the best way to get the vitamins that the body needs. However, some people may not be able to get all of the vitamins they need from their diet alone, and may need to take a vitamin supplement.

It has become a career for many content creators. It's a powerful tool that can help you create connections with your audience, establish yourself as an expert in your field, and grow your business.
It can sometimes be difficult for beginners with few subscribers to get started (getting more views and subscribers), but the most effective way is to keep making good quality content, and promoting the videos through social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, or microblogging sites like Reddit, Tumblr. Even better, when your fans share your content. (Encourage them to like and subscribe)

Again, Quality! it is important that your videos have good quality and have been edited well. It's also helpful if your videos are short and concise with no more than 2 or 3 minutes long.

Good content is possibly most important, but if the audience can't see what's going on, or consistent bad quality, it won't reach it's full potential.

Nicko Gibsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02134121942270099848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7013971139063267315.post-66695904991854557722021-12-14T11:57:00.001-08:002021-12-14T11:57:21.329-08:00How to Dark Mode Everything - Save your Battery, Eyes, and Screens

After I switched to dark mode on almost every app and gadget I never went back. What are some of the necessary apps and things to get for a Windows Computer?

A secure internet browser.

One of the first things I download is always the Brave Browser.
A Chromium based browser with advanced security features.
Download from Brave.com

Antivirus Program

After installing your updates, Windows will recommend to install antivirus program in addition to the built in Windows Defender Program.
A popular one is McAffee Antivirus, but it is not free.
Malwarebytes is a good free alternative. I have it set up to remind me to scan manually once per week. Since I use Brave Browser I don't need the extra features such as browser protection, so I skip this during install. I just stick to the free virus scan (after the 2 weeks of premium runs out) and hope for the best.

Computer Maintenance

CCleaner is a useful little tool I've always enjoyed.
Helps you with cleaning 'crap', duplicate files, and leftovers from programs you no longer use.

Office Tools

A windows computer comes with Microsoft Office but it requires you to be online to access your documents, unless you upgrade it.
A free alternative is OpenOffice (also known as NeoOffice).

Then it's time for my personal favorites apps.

Steam - Where I have collected and bought a lot of video games over the years.

Gimp - A free photo editing software (free photoshop).

ShotCut - Free Video Editing software.

Blender - 3D editing and modeling

What do you usually install on a new computer?

By building our own gaming rig we can definitely save some money compared to buying a pre-built one from the stores.
The parts needed are listed below, and we've made sure they all work well together to play the latest games. Also great for video editing, game streaming, game design, graphic design, and video/sound editing.
With all the buzz about cryptocurrencies and the latest altcoins you might be one of us who don't have money to invest in these things but still want to check it out. Building a mining rig is not the easiest thing, and can sometimes barely even be profitable and keep up with the power bill.
The good news is there are other ways to get some coins for free. There are many startups and dApps (decentralized apps) that give away coins for checking them out. Plus some freelancing sites where you can work for crypto, although this has yet to get much traction.

Probably the easiest way are 'Airdrop' events. An airdrop might be an ICO (initial coin offering) where only investors can get a hold of early coin; but there are also be free airdrop events where a company gives away some coins for trying their product, or maybe just checking out their social feeds. Let's look at some of these dApps and projects in which you can earn for free.
