How to Make an Email List for Free

Maintaining an e-mail list or newsletter is an important tool for marketing, and staying in touch with your customers or fanbase. There are many ways you can offer email subscription button on your website, using custom input forms, or one of the services listed below.

Feedburner

This useful Google tool can be used to create a simple email subscription box.
You can also set up automatic email feeds from your rss or website.
Or download your email list as a text file to send newsletters manually, or from another service.

MailChimp

For a more customizable Email campaign, mailchimp is the way to go.
After signup you can create an email subscription button easily, get an embed code, and collect as many emails as you want.
However, the free plan has a limit of sending 12,000 emails per month to 2000 (max) contacts.
It's definitely worth checking out if you're sending newsletters often, or need an easy way to setup a magazine/ezine.

Custom Form

If you want to collect more than just name and email, you can embed a custom form on your website with Google Forms. Make surveys, invitations, and more, get the embed code to put on your website, and the results are collected in a Google Spreadsheet.

MailChimp has a custom form builder as well, for building more intricate email campaigns (with checkboxes:) and signup forms.
